Graduating Students Fellowship (Oct 28, 2023)
Nearing the end of our studies, we will inevitably face a question, “What’s next?” or “What do I do after my graduation?” This is a question that most of us find it difficult to answer. As Christians, we would like to follow the Lord’s leading, yet at the same time we have our own plans, ideas, and ambitions. It is at these moments of struggle in life that the Lord draws us to touch His love again. His timely speaking also brings us to light. Thank you, Lord! Our real need is not man’s exhortation, but love and light.
Love Prevails
God is love! What a gospel this is! After man sinned, the first thing God did was love. This fellowship was really a gospel to us once again. It is strange that we often would think of God as One who is demanding and who punishes us when we cannot meet His demands. How religious we are! John 3:16 tells us that God loves us. Thank You, Lord, for loving us. Forgive us, Lord. We often misunderstand You! Lord, we want to tell You that we love You!
The Bible speaks not only of God loving man, but also of man loving God. God wants us to love Him from our whole heart, our whole soul, our whole mind, and our whole strength (Mark 12:30). When we hear this, we may think that this is impossible. In Matthew 19, there was a young man who was not able to sell his possessions and follow the Lord. Regrettably, he went away sorrowing. But the Lord told us an encouraging word, “With man it is impossible, with God all things are possible” (v. 26). When we are touched by God’s love, we will simply speak of His love! Like Mary, we will pour out upon the Lord what is most precious to us (Mark 14:3). Lord, we love You. We give ourselves to You. Lord, our future is in Your hands!
The Shining of the Light
“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men” (John 1:4). Having receiving God as our life, this life becomes the light within us shining all the time. It is life that will bring us into the realm of light so that we can see light, which is God Himself (Psa. 36:9).
We confess that so many times our eyes are not open and we are in darkness. As a result, things are not clear to us and we try to seek explanation and advice from men. However, regardless of how much explanation and advice we get, while everything may seem to be clear outwardly, within us we are still in darkness. On the contrary, when the great light shone on Paul, physically he was blind, but inwardly everything became clear to him (Acts 9:8; 26:19). What we need today is not better advice, but the light of God to shine in our hearts (2 Cor. 4:6). Lord, open our eyes! Turn us from darkness to light!
We thank the Lord for such a speaking. The opening of God’s words truly gave light to us (Psa. 119:130). We were really exposed to see how long we have been in darkness, seeing only our own needs and not God’s purpose. Lord Jesus, thank You for loving us and thank You for calling us according to Your purpose! Shine upon us and bring us into light that we may see You and Your purpose!
