New Intake Outing and Fellowship (Oct 26-27, 2024)
Around this time of the year, there are many students coming to the Klang Valley to pursue their tertiary education. We are delighted that we can be gathered once again with our fellow campus students! Among the fifty-five of us, there were nine students who just came less than two months!
“At that time two men will be in the field; one is taken and one is left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one is taken and one is left. Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord comes.” – Matthew 24:40-42
Each one of us has a field apportioned to us. That is our human responsibilities. As students, our duty is to be diligent and do well in our studies. Nevertheless we do not neglect being watchful in life for we do not know on what day our Lord comes!
“But at midnight there was a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Go forth to meet him! Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their own lamps.” – Matthew 25:6-7
In Matthew 25, we see that we are all virgins, and our spirits are the lamps of Jehovah. When the Lord returns, the virgins will arise and trim their own lamps. It is when they trimmed their lamps that the foolish virgins realized that they do not have enough oil. This tells us that we need to trim our lamps every morning, that is, to take care of our spirit every morning. Only then we will realize that we need to buy oil.
But the prudent answered, saying, Perhaps there will not be enough for us and for you; go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves. - Matthew 25:8
When the Lord comes, we will still need to buy oil if we do not have enough. However, that will be too late. Today is the best time to buy oil and the best place to buy oil is in the church life. Thank the Lord for the new students who are coming to live together with us in the brothers’ and sisters’ house! Let us pay the price to buy oil together in this age!
Again, the kingdom of the heavens is like a merchant seeking fine pearls; and finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it. - Matthew 13:45-46
The Lord Jesus likened Himself to a merchant who is seeking fine pearls. When He found that one pearl of great value, which is the church, He went to the cross, paid the highest price to buy and redeem the church. What the Lord did truly touch us! Even though many of us come from different localities, we are thankful for the churches in Klang Valley. Lord, increase our appreciation toward the church. We want to treasure the church as much as the church is to You!
How much we treasure the church can be seen in how much price we pay to live the church life. How willing are we to pay the price depends on how precious Christ and the church is to us. Actually, as we pay the price to live the church life, we do not feel bitter at all; instead, we are filled with joy in our spirit!
The last stop of our trip is Eden Residence. We thank the Lord for the brothers who have such a burden for the training of the young people in the Lord’s recovery. Lord, preserve us through our campus life. We want nothing but Your desire!
