The Recovery of a Personal and Intimate Relationship with Christ

Student Center.

“Draw me; we will run after you”—this is the prayer that summed up the experience of many young people in the Malaysia Campus Perfecting and Blending Trip this time. Having passed through a span of twelve days in the Perfecting beginning from August 6–17, we testified that our love for Him has been rekindled. Though varying in degrees of participation due to the differences in schedule, deep within there is a definite response among the 75 of us who were involved in this perfecting—“Lord Jesus, we love You”! No matter how far we have drifted, how cold our heart has grown, the Lord calls us to come away to Him. Once again, we are being attracted by His love, being charmed by His name, and being captivated by His dear Person (S. S. 1:2-4).

In the word of a campus sister who is in her first-year:

“Before I enter the training, I realized I may see the Lord and the Lord may see me, but I can only see Him through the lattice. I enjoy the Lord but there is a wall between the Lord and me. Through this training, I realize I need to come out, come out from self-introspection. My Lord has moved on! "My beloved responds and says to me, / Rise up, my love, / My beauty, and come away;" (S. S. 2:10) Today we need to hear our Beloved’s voice! Rise up! Come out of our self-introspection follow and pursue the Lord according to His way.”

Malaysia Two-year Full-time Training (FTTMY) Graduation Meeting

With this fresh love towards the Lord established at the onset of the perfecting, we were ushered into the most anticipated event for many of us—the FTTMY Graduation Meeting. During the exhibition of the graduating trainees, their love for the Lord poured forth with pleasant fragrance that filled the whole room. Their testimonies truly encouraged us to go on with the Lord stage by stage, not merely in our initial experience of life but to be fully brought onto maturity!

In the word of a campus brother who is in his fourth-year:

In the graduation meeting, I see how the graduating trainees experienced Christ and the church stage by stage. I have a deep desire to be like them, experience Christ and have the practical church life step by step, stage by stage. This strengthens my consecration to join the FTTMY, to be perfected for Christ and the church. I love Him, but I should not merely love Him with an initial love; I need to advance in this love. This love should be matured, to co-work with the Lord in His vineyard.

Oh, how can we not love Him? Having seen His beauty and glory, we too would gladly give ourselves to love the Lord! No other way is so prevailing, and no other way is so safe, so rich, and so full of enjoyment. Just love Him! Do not care for anything else. “Dear Lord Jesus, we love You!” Without Christ, our human life is nothing but vanity of vanities; with Christ, it is satisfaction of satisfactions! Truly, when we are drawn to follow Christ, we become a factor in others’ following of Him. The consecration and prayers of the trainees, has been duplicated and multiplied in many more of us. We would run after Him, not alone, but with many other lovers of Christ in this racecourse! We have the boldness to declare that in the coming years, many of us will join the FTTMY!

The Church as the Issue of Our Enjoyment of Christ Comes Forth in Our Experience of Him

Gospel Book Centre.

The two lines of fellowship running side by side in this perfecting are (i) Song of Songs and (ii) The Lord’s Recovery and the Fulfilment of God’s Desire. On one hand we are encouraged to build up a personal and affectionate relationship with the Lord for a progressive development in our individual Christian life; on the other hand, we learned that the spiritual life in us must be altogether for the Body, the church. In fact, the more spiritual we are, the more we will be in the church and for the church. In the book of Revelation, the testimony of Jesus is not individual Christians. The testimony of Jesus is the local churches as the corporate expression of the unique Body of Christ.

Our day-to-day living in the perfecting is a miniature of the church life and a foretaste to the FTTMY. We are strengthened in the experience of life, having deeper knowledge of the truth and appreciation towards the ministry; through our corporate living and service, our eyes are opened to see the preciousness of the church life and the importance of our cooperation with the Lord by learning to function and bring forth our one-talent and put it to use!

As one of the students who will soon enter university testified:

It is indeed the most memorable and special perfecting. I've learnt a lot from this perfecting, not only the truths in me have increased but I also learned how to serve and how important service is in the church. Not only that, I also learned how to gain Christ and experience Him. This perfecting really builds me up as a member in the Body. I want to continue living in this way and grab every opportunity to join any perfecting and blending conference. Though I haven't entered into university but from this perfecting I can see that our campus years are the most important years in our life where we need to redeem our time and spend before the Lord. May I live in Christ not only in the years as a campus student but my entire life.”

From the progression of the lover of Christ in Song of Songs, her love for her Beloved culminates in her sharing in the work to work with the Lord whom she loves. Having been equipped as a worker in the work of the Lord through growth and transformation in life, she and her Beloved work diligently not for herself but in the churches for other believers to bud, blossom, and bloom. In the churches she renders her love to her Beloved. Our work should be for the Body, not just one city.

Blending Conference in Kuantan (August 14-17)

Kuantan Meeting Hall.

In the final stage of our perfecting, we visited the church in Kuantan where the churches in the East Coast were gathered for a blending conference over the weekend. We thank the Lord for this opportunity to serve the churches and the saints! Having arrived a day earlier, we entered in the labor of the saints who were preparing the meeting hall to host over 200 saints participating in the Conference. The general subject of the Conference is “Fellowship on Life and Service”. This timely speaking laid a strong foundation to our experience that our spiritual life is for spiritual work and that spiritual work is nothing less than the expression of the spiritual life. The secret of living a spiritual life is to let life flow out without interruption and reach the lives of others. The more we serve, the more living we are, this is evident in many of our experiences:

“I'm thankful to the Lord because He still gives us opportunity to serve the saints, to serve the church. When we serve the saints, we are serving Christ! The more we serve, the more life we have. Our life and service cannot be separated.

“Through this training I learned the right way to serve; it is to serve through Christ. All my 20 years I have served in way that as long as saints are satisfied, I’ll continue to serve the way I served. But from this conference, I saw that serving in the spirit is more important. The divine life in me makes service joyful and enjoyable.

Another brother who has graduated from university shared his testimony:

“In my youth life, I was involved in serving of the youth and meetings. But these services were due to responsibility and compulsion, therefore I always felt serving was troublesome and couldn’t serve in joy. This slowly led to the forsaking of my church life when I entered university life… It was His blessing to place me in service for the church in Kuantan and the blending conference. I realized that the thing that I was lacking of in my previous services was experiencing Christ and having fellowships with Him. How joyful it was to meet saints from different localities, how joyful it was to serve with the coordination of the other trainees, how joyful it is to be back in the church life.
