Youth Study Camp (Apr 12-13, 2024)
The recent school holiday for the Hari Raya was surely well spent for the 49 young people (ranging from primary 6 to form 5) from the churches surrounding Klang Valley. On April 12 to 13, they were gathered to have a two-day one-night youth study camp in Petaling Jaya Hall 1. The young people in the Lord’s recovery need to realize the importance of learning and doing well in their studies and thus the purpose of this event.
Thank the Lord for the group of brothers and sisters who are willing to bear the same burden. They are not merely caring for the spiritual education and growth, but they show equal concern for the education of our younger generation. During these two days, practical help was rendered to the young people in their studies. Much effort and endeavor were put in so that the young people would do well in their education.
The main focus this time was on the two compulsory subjects under the Malaysian National Curriculum—Bahasa Malaysia and Sejarah. We had serving ones teaching on Bahasa Malaysia grammar, with the hope to lay a foundation for the young people to continue to improve. Many youths responded that they now realized Bahasa Malaysia is not a too difficult subject to master as they always thought. As for Sejarah, the youths were split into different classes according to their academic year. The serving ones helped them to revise from their textbook, made the learning interesting and taught them techniques to memorize historical facts.
On Saturday night, we ended the study camp with a combine Klang Valley youth meeting. The parents of these dear ones were also being invited; it was like a big family gathering. In that meeting, the youths shared on how their interest to study were being stirred up. Some also shared on how they looked forward to the next study camp.
While the youths love to come together and the serving ones are burdened to help them spiritually and academically, the support of the parents is all the more necessary. It is wonderful to see all category of saints in the church life labor together for the raising up of the younger generation in the Lord’s recovery. We may not see the harvest today; but ten years from now, we will reap what we sow today. May the Lord gain a strong young generation to be vessels unto honor, useful to the master, prepared unto every good work for Christ and the church.
